Clatsop County has been fortunate to be awarded a grant to assess the burden of chronic disease in our county.  Chronic diseases encompass such things as Tobacco-related disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma, heart disease, chronic lower respiratory disease and cancer – to name a few.  Many chronic diseases are a direct result of behavioral habits such as poor nutrition, lack of physical activity and smoking – and are preventable.

We have completed a comprehensive community assessment and will be releasing our findings in an executive summary soon.  As part of a collaborative process with concerned community members, a Plan of Action will be developed in order to increase opportunities in Clatsop County that support each resident's choice to lead an active and healthy life.
