Sheriff Posse

The Clatsop County Sheriff Posse is made up of local residents who volunteer their time and service using their own horses; however, members do not need to own a horse to volunteer. Members assist law enjorcement and local organizations in keeping events organized and safe. The group patrols and participates in activities year-round throughout Clatsop County.
This organization of Clatsop County citizens provides a public service at the direction of Sheriff to perpetuate the interest of Western horsemanship, customs and traditions of the early days of the State of Oregon. The Posse participates in Search and Rescue missions when requested. The posse provides mounted patrols where needed and support for special events. Contact Kim Nelson at (503) 325-8635 for more information.
Capable riders who own or have access to a horse and who have a strong interest in community service are invited to join the Posse. Applicants must be 21 or older, a U.S. citizen and resident of Clatsop County and pass a criminal background check.
